Our Outreach

Magdalene’s Gate had established an outreach program in Gwinnett County but has now relocated to Broward County targeting runaway and homeless youth. MGGH’s outreach team targets various locations where these youth may seek refuge. Many of them sleep during the day and stay up at night for the sake of safety.

Studies show that intervening within the first 48 hours on the street is critical to avoiding sexual exploitation, gang activity, drug abuse, mental abuse, physical abuse, and juvenile delinquency.* When we encounter a runaway or homeless youth, counseling is the first step that is taken to reunite the youth with their families and if appropriate, assist them in reporting allegations of abuse, neglect, or other mistreatment to local authorities. After counseling, should the youth decide to remain on the streets and not contact the local authorities, food and hygiene products will be provided for the purpose of “harm reduction”. Reaching these kids and reducing the amount of runaway youth, homeless youth, and repeated runaways is MGGH’s top priority.

Currently Magdalene’s Gate is looking for enthusiastic, heartfelt volunteers to assist runaway kids that call our hotline in the Broward County area.

Contact the Executive Director for more information on volunteer opportunities or partnerships. You can also help us by making a financial or in-kind donation.

* Due to the nature of our organization all volunteers must submit a background check.*
